FAQs

Does your parent coaching provide support for kids and teens?

1

YES! Your child can be in pre-k, elementary, middle or high school. Even college! The core principles of my parent coaching method apply to ALL ages. Also, your child/teen does NOT need to have a diagnosis to benefit from these coaching principles.

Do you work with kids/teens directly?

2

Yes, I can. However, I always ask parents on a scale of 1-5 if they think their child is coachable yet. Often times, kids under the age of 12 are not ready to be coached yet. Parent Coaching bridges this gap and provides parents with the skills, tools and strategies to support their child.

What is the difference between parent coaching and therapy?

3

Parent coaching focuses on practical, present-day strategies to improve parenting skills and reach specific goals, while therapy focuses on emotional healing, mental health, and understanding underlying causes. Coaching is action-oriented and future-focused, whereas therapy often explores past experiences and emotional patterns.

Do you give parents guidance on how to communicate with the school and teachers to ensure their child is getting what they need during the school day?

4

Yes! Communicating your child’s needs to the school, teachers and service providers can be challenging and I often provide guidance to families in this area. I can review 504/IEPs so that we can discuss specific accommodations that may benefit your child in the classroom. Often times when executive function skills are lagging, the school does not provide targeted support to develop these specific skills. Knowing what your child needs and how to advocate for them is crucial for your child’s success.
